Zoo Babies

We took our first zoo trip this weekend to the Dallas Zoo. Bree has been to the Orange Beach Zoo but this was Aidan's first zoo visit. However Aidan was not too impressed just mostly happy to be with us. Bree on the other-hand had a blast. She rode a pony when we first arrived and was at ease. She held on to the saddle horn like she knew what she was doing and then smiled for some great pictures. She also got to ride a camel with Susu which Bree absolutely loved. And once again the height of the animal did not phase her at all. We checked out the African Savanna area that is amazing. The lions and cheetahs were incredible. Bree and Papa Boo fed a giraffe which was pretty cool. We didn't get to see he gorillas because it was a little too rainy and cold for them. Other than the gorillas we saw every animal we wanted to see and most importantly Bree had a blast. She passed out on the ride home she was so tired from her travels. It was a great day.

Mobile! Yikes!

Aidan is on the verge of crawling. Yesterday he scooted half-way across the room. Bree tried to corral him but he wanted to move. I didn't realize he was going to learn this so quickly. The easy days of leaving him to be content somewhere are over. A constant vigilant eye is now requires.

Scooting babies and Justin Bieber

We have a life-size cutout of Justin Bieber at school for some odd reason and it keeps showing up in the most random places. Today it showed up in our department meeting and I had to take a picture with him! It almost looks real!

Another noteworthy event this evening was Aidan's scooting abilities were very impressive. I fear he is close to crawling, what happened to boys developing slower than girls? Bree didn't crawl until 9 months and Aidan is only six months! He's so cute, though!

A new years' resolution

I have decided that because I can't seem to keep any kind of blog or journal I am going to have to challenge myself. As a new years' resolution I am going to attempt to post something each day even if it is just a picture. Today was a lazy Sunday. We started by eating at Poor Richards in east Plano where we ate gingerbread pancakes and black-eyes peas. Here's to a lovely start to the new year.

The Day Before

Tonight I am anxiously tying up loose ends to prepare for Aidan's arrival. I have cleaned the entire house not once but three times. Tomorrow is the day that Aidan arrives. After much mental anguish, we decided to proceed with the c-section. So, tomorrow at noon we will welcome our new baby boy. I am very excited, but also extremely nervous about the prospect of having two children under 2! Yikes! Bree is going to be such a great big sister, but I know that she will definitely struggle in the beginning with having attention diverted away from her. Luckily she is a super independent kid and loves to play by herself. Hopefully that will help the transition. Alright, one last snack for me before midnight (I can't eat or drink anything before the surgery) and then off to bed for my last full night's sleep for awhile!

Spring Fun

Yesterday was the 137th Kentucky Derby and we held a party to watch the action. I have always wanted to host a party complete with hats and mint juleps. So, we did! I made mint juleps (that with my tiny taste seemed to be a bit strong), derby pie, and Mike cooked non traditional hamburgers and hot dogs! The derby pie was delicious. We had had a great turn out and plenty of fantastic hats! Mike helped everyone bet with an online betting source. While everyone was eager to see their horse win, but Animal Kingdom, the horse we bet on with 30-1 odds, WON! Unfortunately, we only put $5, but hey we still won!

Bree is growing up so fast. We took our first professional photography family shoot this April to capture our growing family. Our photographer was smitten with Bree and Bree had the best time posing for the camera. I can't believe how fast she has grown and that we are shortly about to welcome another little Becker.

Strep! and IPad

I came home last night late from a meeting to find my little girl running a 104 degree temperature! We immediately took her to the doctor and discovered that she had Strep Throat! Yikes! I felt so bad for my poor baby. We got her fever down and gave her the first round of antibiotics and she woke up this morning feeling much better. I took the day off work so I could be with her. Most of the day we spent cuddling and watching television. Then while Bree was feeling better and playing with her dancing Mickey, I watched a live blog feed of the IPad2 announcement! Pretty cool stuff and I can't wait to order one.
