A Cowgirl First Birthday--Yeehaw!

We celebrated Bree's first birthday in Cowgirl style! We had friends and family come from all around to help us celebrate!

Bree's outfit came from Fort Worth. My mom bought part of the outfit this summer and we went back on a field trip to get the hat, the boots, and the sparkly belt! I absolutely love her outift!

While we had barbeque and all sorts of great Texas goodies, the cake was by far the best part of the party! My favorite local bakery outdid themselves!

While Bree wasn't quite sure about eating the cake, she sure enjoyed getting her hands dirty!

Summer Projects

Wow! It's been several months since I actually have updated this blog. A lot has happened. Mike's mom passed away after a great fight with breast cancer. She is deeply missed by all of us and we are all adapting to this new change. Bree is finally a mobile baby--travelling all over the place making it very difficult to even take a restroom break. And I am finally done with school! Yippee! Now for all of the fun I am planning...

Reading at least one book--a fun choice that has no intellectual merit--any ideas?
Finish my sewing projects that I have started within the last months
Get this house organized...for real!

Can't Wait Until After 8

It's a majic number in our household. Bree is asleep and I can finally do all of those things that I need to do and all of those fun things that I have been planning to get done. This night time freedom is like a dream. However, I am so worn down that all my body wants to do is go to sleep too and my dream has turned into, well, just that an unattainable dream. It is rather frustrating. I really was looking forward to this weekend; Mike is out of town and I have a ton of fun sewing projects to catch up on. So Friday night I put Bree down and I sat on the couch watching television. I was so physically exhausted from the week that I allowed myself the veg time and decided that Saturday night I would unleash the productive Katie and make up for all of the time I lost on Friday. So now here I am sitting and typing up this message because I have absolutely no motivation! What has happened to me?

Sweet Home Alabama

Mike, my mom, Tony, Bree and myself piled into our Tahoe last Friday night for a Spring Break getaway to Gulf Shores, Alabama. While the weather has been quite breezy and a little too cool to really be considered Spring, we have definitely enjoyed the 'Break' from our routine back in Texas. With most anything this first year, Bree has enjoyed several 'firsts' this week. She had her first road trip, Spring Break, interstate travel, ocean dip, and St. Patrick's Day! Oh! and I must mention she has slept through the night the entire week. It has been a red letter week for sure.

The Attempt

I used to think blogging to be a bit narcissitic. However, with the addition of miss Priss, aka Bree, I have changed my tune. Funny how motherhood makes you want to show off your little one. I have also rationalized that this will be a wonderful online diary of my family's journey. I can't wait to try and keep it up!
