The Day Before

Tonight I am anxiously tying up loose ends to prepare for Aidan's arrival. I have cleaned the entire house not once but three times. Tomorrow is the day that Aidan arrives. After much mental anguish, we decided to proceed with the c-section. So, tomorrow at noon we will welcome our new baby boy. I am very excited, but also extremely nervous about the prospect of having two children under 2! Yikes! Bree is going to be such a great big sister, but I know that she will definitely struggle in the beginning with having attention diverted away from her. Luckily she is a super independent kid and loves to play by herself. Hopefully that will help the transition. Alright, one last snack for me before midnight (I can't eat or drink anything before the surgery) and then off to bed for my last full night's sleep for awhile!

Spring Fun

Yesterday was the 137th Kentucky Derby and we held a party to watch the action. I have always wanted to host a party complete with hats and mint juleps. So, we did! I made mint juleps (that with my tiny taste seemed to be a bit strong), derby pie, and Mike cooked non traditional hamburgers and hot dogs! The derby pie was delicious. We had had a great turn out and plenty of fantastic hats! Mike helped everyone bet with an online betting source. While everyone was eager to see their horse win, but Animal Kingdom, the horse we bet on with 30-1 odds, WON! Unfortunately, we only put $5, but hey we still won!

Bree is growing up so fast. We took our first professional photography family shoot this April to capture our growing family. Our photographer was smitten with Bree and Bree had the best time posing for the camera. I can't believe how fast she has grown and that we are shortly about to welcome another little Becker.

Strep! and IPad

I came home last night late from a meeting to find my little girl running a 104 degree temperature! We immediately took her to the doctor and discovered that she had Strep Throat! Yikes! I felt so bad for my poor baby. We got her fever down and gave her the first round of antibiotics and she woke up this morning feeling much better. I took the day off work so I could be with her. Most of the day we spent cuddling and watching television. Then while Bree was feeling better and playing with her dancing Mickey, I watched a live blog feed of the IPad2 announcement! Pretty cool stuff and I can't wait to order one.

Funny Stories

I have decided that I am the worst blogger ever. I have always, unsuccessfully, tried to keep a journal/diary. My good intentions usually die with the hustle and bustle of life. But, I do seem to try and come back and update the missing months or years. In this case, I am updating the several months since Bree's Cowgirl birthday.

A run down from most recent of the latest and greatest in our household:

  • I am 5 months pregnant with baby #2 and have just found out that we are having a boy!
  • Dallas was iced-in over the Super Bowl weekend. We had four days of school off in a row. A first!
  • We celebrated our good friends 30th birthday in Las Vegas. We went to the Bellagio Spa for a wonderful day of pampering. Also, Mike and I skeptically went to a dance club with bottle service, something we felt should be left to the young 20 somethings of the world. However, I can't even describe how much fun we had. Mike definitely had a blast!
  • Mike and I celebrated 5 years of marriage with a weekend trip to Cowtown Fort Worth. We stayed at the Omni and ate a delicious little Italian restaurant in downtown. We had a romantic little getaway that was tons of fun.
  • Christmas was bittersweet. Missing Ann was hard; this was the first Christmas without her. We hosted a wonderful celebration at our house with our new furniture from Ikea.
  • We remodeled our living room. We painted the paneling, bought new furniture, a cabinet, and the prized possesion the mounted television above the fireplace.
  • We spent Thanksgiving with Mike's Wisconsin relatives. Also, this was Bree's first plane ride. It was so much fun. Getting to see the family, eat, and enjoy card games!
  • Since I didn't get to have a huge 30th celebration last year, my friends Lynette, Casandra, and Sable joined me for a weekend in San Antonio. We ate, went to the clubs, and enjoyed a nice spa day and the Mokara spa! It was a wonderful weekend.
  • Our annual Birthday season enjoyed the addition of Bree's first Birthday. Which is where I left off last.
